It's been a few days since THERE closed. I can sit and bitch about Michael Wilson and blah blah blah but I wont. Too many people have vented their issues about him etc already. I wont echo their sentiments although I do understand their frustrations.
I however, instead of complaining about it closing, would like to reflect. Reflect on how a virtual world could have an impact on my life.
Little did I know when I joined 3 years ago that I would get to meet online some insanely amazing people. Although we've never met in person and we may never ever meet, it's very hard to not consider these people friends, great friends at that. These are people who I would spend up to 3 -4 hours a night with, chatting laughing, having serious conversations with, asking for advice, dishing out advice, recieving advice or just standing around in our pixelated state being bored together. When you think about it, 3 - 4 hours a day or more is a huge chunk of time to devote to people whom you've never met in person. There are not many people who can understand or appreciate that unless you're a player of virtual worlds. My partner in RL tries but doesn't quite understand my love of the virtual worlds.
All my friends on here whom I've met know who they are. Thank you all so very much for your friendship and allowing me to be a part of your daily life.
To all the designers who devoted so much of their time to make not just mine but all the avatars in world, look so damm fabulous. THANK YOU. The time you devoted was not all in vain. It was appreciated buy so many people and no amount of thanks could really convey the appreciation we all feel for your efforts to make our virtual world a better place when you didn't have to....
