NOTE: Thumdar.com has a very strict no-spam policy. All accounts created that could be potentially malicious are deleted.
If you or someone you know has been banned and want to get this lifted, please read the bottom of this article.
Today I received the following private message which prompted me to create this new section of the forums.
"Hey Thumdar! I have a question/issue. You prolly get tons of people buggin you huh? well lemme get to the point. one of my friends is trying to access your site for the There.com Downloads but the site gives him an error, almost like he's IP banned from your site, neither of us can figure why. i suppose my question is do you ban people from the site or anything? we're exploring all possibilities but i thought i would submit this question to you. Thank you for taking time to read this. I'd sure appreciate if you could get back to me."
Yes ~ I do ban IP addresses, but they can be unbanned. Thumdar.com understands that people value their privacy and do not want websites to abuse their email addresses. Thumdar.com does not send spam to its users and does not release email addresses or any personal information to anyone - NO EXCEPTIONS.
People will have their IP addresses banned for the following reasons:
1. Multiple offender blatant false email addresses
During the sign up process for free membership, it is made clear that a genuine email address is required. Sometimes people will use a false email address. When this occurs, the website system kicks back an email stating the email address isn't working. The account is then reviewed and when the fake email address is seen, the account is often times deleted. If, when a person is registering, they use apparently real information for all the rest of their account profile, a private message will be sent to that user telling them that they need to add a genuine email address or their account will be deleted. If they do not respond, their account is then deleted. Directly before an account is deleted, the users IP address is logged and added to a list of offenders.
Sometimes the person who has had their account deleted will then setup another account, again using a false email address. When this happens, the account is immediately deleted and the IP address is added to the banned list.
2. Abusive behavior
An IP address will be banned due to abusive behavior. This may include abusive private messages, forum posts, commenting, blog posts, etc. Those who have committed abusive offenses and have had their IP address banned will not have their IP address unbanned.
3. SPAM
If you setup an account and then spam this website in anyway, your IP address will be added to the banned list. NO EXCEPTIONS and NO REINSTATING OF PRIVILEGES.
If you've had your IP address banned and want to have your IP address unbanned, you can send an email to Thumdar (from a REAL email account) requesting that your IP address be removed from this list and given access to this website. Once access has been reinstated, please setup your new account using the email address you contacted Thumdar with. If you then setup an account using another false email address, your IP address will be again added to the banned list and you will also be added to the Wall Of Shame list (coming soon). Please send your request to the following email: thumdar (at) gmail.com.
